Little Einsteins Nursery in Dundee held a fun day in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity’s Melissa Crouch Fund on Friday 3rd March. They had a tombola, bouncy castle, face painting, cake & candy, guess the baby and guess how many sweeties in the jar.
The nursery raised a fantastic sum of money – £171.51 for the Melissa Crouch Fund which raises money for research into paediatric brain tumours. “Well done” to everyone at Little Einsteins Dundee and thanks to all the parents and families who supported our fun day.

Calvin Ogilvie, a popular Early Years Practitioner at Little Einsteins Dundee, nursery has been hitting the headlines this week. The Evening Telegraph, Dundee’s local evening paper, featues him in their Jobs section as a man working in a role not always immediately thought of for men. Calvin also had support from Barnardo’s Scotland Works service which lead him into this role.
Calvin has already completed his SVQ3 in Childcare and although he is the only male in the team at Dundee he has found everyone to be very supportive and friendly and he thinks the boys who attend the nursery enjoy having a male member of staff around. Ashley, Manager of the Nursery said in her interview that “Calvin has slotted in very well and he is a hit with the children and their parents too”.
Kaylee Adamson was voted “Employee of the Year” at Little Einsteins, Dundee nursery. During the last year Kaylee finished her SVQ 3 in Childcare and has helped run the 3 – 5 year olds room where she is very popular with the children and their parents.
Some of the comments accompanying Kaylee’s nominations included:-
- “Kaylee does a good job”
- “my child’s favourite teacher” and
- “I know I can go to Kaylee about my child regarding information etc”
Overall Kaylee is doing a great job and working well with the children.
Well Done Kaylee – enjoy the extra week’s annual leave this year that winning has earned you!
Christmas is always an exciting time at Little Einsteins Nurseries as the children take part in decorating the tree and other seasonal preparations. Here are some of the photographs taken this year including the children dressed in the Nativity costumes when they went to sing carols at the sheltered housing complex nearby.
Decorating the Christmas tree
Posting letters to Santa Claus
A walk in to the city centre to see the big Christmas tree and visit the fountains
Making salt dough decorations
The babies were a bit too young for some of the activities but they enjoyed rummaging through the treasure basket
Here are some photographs of the Christmas Party at Little Einsteins in Arbroath. Nerea Fernandez, the Manager at the Nursery said:-
“We enjoyed such a nice Christmas meal followed by Santa’s visit! We followed his footprints and eventually found him - he was hiding in one of the rooms! We told him that we were very good children during the year and he handed out presents for us…what a lovely surprise!! After saying bye to Santa, we played some games and we ended with a Christmas Buffet. Such a wonderful day!”

Zoe Morris was the clear winner of Nithsdale Nursery’s “Employee of the Year” award for 2016.
More than half of the votes, which were submitted by parents of the children who attend the nursery, were for Zoe. Some of the comments below make it clear why they thought Zoe should be Employee of the Year:-
- Zoe always provided the best care for my wee man, he loves her to bits. When I ask him who his favourite lady is he says “Zoe” (even above mum!!).
- Because she’s always very helpful, loving and supportive.
- For being a loving and caring key worker who is lots of fun.
