During your time with us we will ensure that a happy and successful partnership is established between staff, parents/carers and the children in our care.
At Little Einstein’s Hillside Nursery we aim to provide a challenging and stimulating environment in which all children can grow and develop at their own pace. We also work together with parents and children to ensure that there is relevance and continuity in the care and education we deliver.
An initial visit to the nursery provides parents/guardians with an opportunity to view the nursery and meet the manager, supervisor and staff. We recommend a further five settling in periods (from 1 hour with parent – upto almost a full session – usually over 2 weeks) before your child starts at Little Einstein’s.
Every child is assigned a key worker who is responsible for observing and recording your child’s development in their own personal development files. Meetings with your child’s key worker can be arranged and parents/guardians can view their child’s development file at any time.
Partnership funding for 3 and 4 year olds may also be available to you.
You can view the latest Care Inspectorate Report here.

Our baby room is a large, bright, cosy and homely room providing a relaxed and loving atmosphere for babies. There are a range of activities to stimulate learning and develop the child’s imagination in keeping with their individual ages. An area is designated for the younger babies with bouncers, swing and baby gyms etc. There is a small world area with cars and a farmyard and puzzles to develop hand/eye co-ordination. The sensory area allows babies to explore and develop their senses with a variety of toys including soft toys, rattles, building blocks etc. There are various push along and pull up toys and a large floor space to encourage older babies mobility.
Each child is assigned with their own keyworker at the beginning of the settling in process. A ‘My Day’ book is completed each day which parents/guardians can take home to read and add any comments before returning it next day.
A separate sleep area is available to provide children with a quiet, comfortable area to rest in.
The child to staff ratio in this room is 3:1.
We have two 1-2 years rooms which the children in that age group have access to throughout the day. We have a house corner and dress up area to help develop the imagination and a construction area. There is also a book corner where the children can enjoy some quiet reading time. Should the children need a nap they have their own sleeping mat and blanket here. Messy activities like painting and the sand and water areas are kept to one room where the children also eat their snacks and meals.
The child to staff ratio in this room is 5:1
There are two 2 – 3 rooms. We have the main playroom where the children come into on a daily basis. Meals and snacks are eaten in this room. Within this room there is a construction area, a small world area and a corner for reading to explore the children’s language and literary skills and puzzles. Part of this room is a designated messy area for arts and crafts, water and sand and painting activities.
Our other 2 – 3′s play room is called the imagination room. Here the children can take part on role-play and act out home routines in the home corner and dress up corner. A “My Day” book is completed by the staff which provides information to parents/guardians on their child’s day. This may be taken home to read and add comments before returning the next day.
The child to staff ratio in this room is 8:1.
In the 3 – 5 room there are designated areas – the writing table, science area, jigsaw, sand and water, painting, computer and construction. There is also a house corner with dressing up, small world cosy corner and book area. This room focuses mainly on preparing the children for school. We promote independence at meal times, the children serve themselves all of their meals. They also have their own sign in register and are encouraged to write their names when they enter the room, teaching them responsibility. The children are involved in all planning discussions and choose what subjects they wish to learn about. We also have opportunities for physical play outdoors/indoors and for outings.
Weather permitting, we have a secure and safe outdoor play area where the children can use a variety of outdoor toys and games.
